Located to the south of La Rambla, before the neighbourhood of Poble Sec and the Avenida Parallel, El Raval’s name derives from the Arabic word ‘rabad’, meaning ‘suburb’. The reason being that during the Middle Ages when Barcelona was a walled city, El Raval was located on the outside of the walls and did not initially form part of the city proper. This is also why the famous Boqueria market is located there, just off La Rambla, as this enabled traders to avoid the tax on merchandise imported into the city. However, in the last 15 years or so, El Raval has seen tremendous change to its social fabric owing to efforts made by the local council to reduce crime in the area, and the fast-paced gentrification process which ensued. The University of Barcelona opened a new site there and the city’s contemporary art museum, the MACBA, has also become one of El Raval’s most iconic landmarks. Today the local community remains diverse, with large Sikh and Muslim communities as well as a lively scene of artists and alternative culture. Main features: - 85 m2 in the Raval Barcelona area. - 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom - 1 large room with 1 double bed and wardrobe. - 1 medium room with 1 double bed and wardrobe. - 1 medium room with a single bed and built-in wardrobe - Very bright and furnished apartment. - Bright living room with furniture and sofa, - The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, microwave, refrigerator, washing machine, dishwasher. Parquet floors. Important Information & House Rules Mid-Term Stay – Barcelona (32 Nights to 11 Months) Nature of the Stay This property is offered exclusively for temporary, non-residential stays. If this additional work causes the cleaning and laundry costs to exceed the €130 already paid, the justified difference attributable to that work will be deducted from the €1,000 security deposit. A breakdown will be provided, together with the supplier''s invoice issued at the end of the stay and evidence of the condition of the accommodation and the additional work. If you complete the agreed rental period and there are no enforceable financial obligations arising from an early departure, the €1,800 will be refunded on departure. Leaving early does not automatically mean losing the entire deposit. Only amounts due under the early termination conditions communicated and accepted before booking, the rental agreement and applicable regulations may be deducted. An itemised settlement with supporting justification will be provided, and the remaining balance will be refunded.
